Male Plastic Surgery
Men are not exempt from wanting to put their best face forward, which is why there’s an increasing demand for plastic surgery for men.
Cosmetic Surgery for Men
Maintaining masculine features is essential, as is avoiding an overdone or feminized look.
Gynecomastia is a medical term for “woman-like breasts,” and it affects many men. Enlarged breasts can be permanent, uncomfortable, and socially and psychologically devastating. However, they can be removed through male breast reduction surgery.
Gynaecomastia is a common disorder of the male breast where there is a benign glandular enlargement.
This condition is estimated to affect around 50 percent of men.
It usually consists of the appearance of a flat pod of glandular tissue behind the nipple that becomes tender at the same time. Gynaecomastia can occur in one or both breasts.
Usually the growth is only for a short period of time and is not permanent. Rarely, the breast tissue continues to grow. Though certain drugs and medical problems may be linked with male breast overdevelopment, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases.
For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, surgery to remove breast tissue can help. The procedure involves removing fat or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.
There are a number of options for the treatment of male breast enlargement (gynaecomastia):
- Surgical removal of firm breast tissue.
- Surgical removal of loose skin.
- A combination of the above.
Most of us notice someone’s nose only when it is not in balance with their face, whether it is too large, too wide, or misshapen. If you are dissatisfied with the shape or proportion of your nose, you are likely not happy with your overall facial appearance.
Rhinoplasty or ‘nose job’ is a cosmetic surgery procedure that reshapes the nose, usually altering the size to restore balance to the facial features.
Plastic surgery of the nose can also be a corrective procedure for those who have breathing problems, a birth defect or have suffered nose injuries.
Although it is quite a complex procedure, the outcome is generally very effective. Rhinoplasty can change the balance and proportions of the entire face producing a dramatic improvement in how you look and feel. The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic and usually takes around 2 hours.
Whatever the reason is for you being unhappy with your nose, book in for a consultation to discuss how we can help. Our experienced cosmetic surgeons will be able to advise you on the technique most appropriate to achieve your desired look.
Some men may choose to have a rhinoplasty to correct features such as:
- Being off center.
- Has a big tip.
- Has a bulbous tip.
- Has a droopy tip.
- Has a bump.
- Is too wide or too thin.
- Has that ski slope look or they may feel their nose just doesn't go with the rest of their face.
Queen Anne Street Medical Centre's liposuction patients have achieved their body contouring goals with this trusted and popular procedure.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess fat from one or more areas of the body.
It can be used for small areas, such as the space under the chin or for larger areas, including the stomach, thighs, buttocks, hips or knees.
Liposuction is also referred to as lipoplasty, suction lipectomy, or body contouring. It is a relatively safe procedure and involves a very simple process. A tiny incision is made within the target area into which a small tube is inserted. Fat cells are broken down via the movement of the tube and then sucked away.
Many people resort to liposuction when they struggle to shift stubborn fat in particular areas, despite regular exercise and a healthy diet. They may have lost weight in other parts of their body, but certain areas remain. Liposuction is a very successful way to permanently eliminate excess fat from around your body.
How can patients benefit from liposuction?
- Provides an alternative to more invasive plastic surgery procedures by eliminating fat from specific areas like the abdomen, thighs, or chin, or enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia) without large incisions (scars).
- Balances an out-of-proportion body type, for example, reducing the saddlebags on the thighs of a “pear-shaped” body or reducing abdominal girth in men.
- Enhances facial surgery procedures such as facelift by removing pockets of fat from under the chin.
- Can amplify diet and exercise by contouring the stubborn areas that do not respond to these efforts.
The VASERlipo® System uses minimally invasive ultrasound technology for precision body contouring. VASERlipo® produces eye-catching results in just one procedure and the technology provides many benefits versus traditional liposuction treatments.
At Queen Anne Street Medical Centre we can offer specialised VASER® liposuction.
At Queen Anne Street Medical Centre we can offer specialised VASER liposuction. This is an advanced body sculpting technique. By removing the fat around muscle groups, it creates a sculpted, athletic appearance, making muscles look more defined.
Vaser Liposuction is an effective procedure whereby fat cells are removed permanently thus preventing fat to reassert itself in the treated areas. This effectively means that once an area is treated, Fat can no longer form in that area.
This quick and effective process of Vaser Liposuction involves the process of using ultrasound waves to break up fat deposits so they can be smoothly removed away to bring forward a more contoured natural look that was previously hidden by excess areas of fat tissue
Key benefits for VASER:
- Superior body contouring
- Single procedure results with speedy recovery times
- Improved skin retraction and minimal blood loss
- Easily removes large amounts of stored fat
- Smoothes skin even in delicate areas like the arms and neck
- Refines and accentuates the appearance of muscles
If you’re man who wants to do something about signs of ageing in your face, we are experts in male face lift surgery and natural looking results.
As we age, our faces can often look older than we feel. Skin loses elasticity and gravity starts to take its toll. A face-lift can help redress the balance.
It should not be obvious that you have had the procedure, instead you should look younger and fresher.
This relatively straightforward operation lifts up the skin, deeper tissues and surrounding muscles, aiming to make your face tighter and smoother, resulting in a more youthful appearance. There are a variety of methods available and our expert cosmetic surgeons will assess your suitability and discuss all options, with the aim of achieving a more youthful, face.
Reasons for a face lift:
- Correcting deep wrinkles and facial lines in the cheeks.
- Smoothing the deep nasolabial folds, i.e., the lines running from the corners of the nose to the mouth.
- Smoothing the deep marionette lines, i.e., the lines running down the corners of the mouth to the chin.
- Removing the excessively sagging skin tissues.
- Tightening the skin tissues and muscles.
- Reducing jowls.
As one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for men, upper eyelid surgery, also known as upper blepharoplasty is suitable for men with ageing, wrinkled, sagging or drooping upper eyelids.
Inevitably skin loses elasticity as we age. This is often most noticeable around the sensitive skin of the eyes.
Eye-bags can appear and the eye area may become puffy and wrinkled, giving the eyes a tired appearance.
In the upper eyelid, excess skin produces a hooded effect, this can also obscure vision, Blepharoplasty is usually straightforward and can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, in order to rejuvenate the appearance of the area around the eyes.
The surgeon will remove any excess skin and fatty tissue from around the eyes and stretch the skin to smooth out any lines and wrinkles and reduce the “hooded” effect above the eyes before stitching the skin back into place. This procedure is often performed alone but many people also choose to combine it with a face lift or brow lift.
Patients may choose to have blepharoplasty for any of these reasons:
- Lifting loose, sagging upper and lower eyelids
- Correcting under-eye bags
- Restoring peripheral vision obscured by loose eyelid skin
- Removing fatty deposits from upper and lower eyelids
If you are a man looking to reverse the signs of ageing around your eyes, a brow lift is a procedure that you should consider.
Brow lift surgery is often performed on those people who wish to rejuvenate their face and in particular the area around the eyes.
As we get older the skin on the face can start to lose elasticity and this can mean that the skin will sag and droop around the eyes, mouth and jaw line.
Brow lift surgery can help to tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and remove the “hoods” that can appear over the eyes and make them look tired and old. This surgery is sometimes combined with eye bag removal surgery, which is performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or combination of the two to open up the eyes, tighten any loose skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Our patients, who are typically between 40 and 60 years of age, choose brow lift plastic surgery to improve:
- Sagging and droopy eyebrows
- Horizontal forehead creases
- Vertical “worry lines” between the eyebrows
- Hooding of the upper eyelids
Tummy tuck surgery isn’t just for women. Many men also do them to remove excess skin on their stomachs after significant weight loss.
Often the skin becomes stretched and loose following rapid weight loss. Stretch marks may also be a problem.
Others want to remove a “roll of fat” surrounding their lower abdomen. All these issues can be resolved by an abdominoplasty.
During a tummy tuck excess skin and fat is removed from the lower abdomen. The aim is to create a flatter, firmer and more contoured stomach. During the procedure the surgeon will make an incision along the lower abdomen and a second around the belly button. If necessary, abdominal muscles may also need to be tightened and repaired. Excess skin and fat are removed then a new belly button is formed. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with this procedure.
For those with only a small amount of excess skin, a mini-tummy tuck may be recommended. Muscle repair is not undertaken, therefore the belly button does not need to be repositioned and a much smaller incision can be made.
Our patients choose tummy tucks for many personal reasons, which often include:
- Removing excess loose skin from the front of the abdomen
- Tightening stretched or separated abdominal muscles
- Sculpting the waistline
- Flattening and smoothing the abdominal profile
- Balancing an out-of-proportion body type
- Increasing self-esteem in and out of clothing
If you intend to lose a lot of weight or become pregnant, you should probably postpone your procedure, as many of the improvements you gain will be lost.
