Dr. Gian Paolo Tassi
Laser surgery under local anaesthetic for herniated disk (disk protrusion) exclusively at Queen Anne Street Medical Centre.
Percutaneous Laser Disk Decompression (PLDD) was pioneered by neurosurgeon Dr Gian Paolo Tassi over a twelve year period. The surgery takes only 30 minutes and is performed under local anaesthetic. Patients are able to leave the hospital on the same day after a 4 hour recovery period.
Dr Gian Paolo Tassi graduated from the University of Chieti, Italy in February 1990 as Medical Doctor and Surgeon, and from the University of Modena and Reggion Emilia, Italy in December 1995 with specialisation in neurosurgery. Dr Gian Paolo Tassi has performed more than 1800 surgeries in all fields of neurosurgery. During the last twelve years Dr Tassi has focused on PLDD (minimally invasive interventional disc procedure for disc herniation). PLDD was introduced in Italy for the first time in December 2002 by Dr Tassi. Dr Tassi has performed more than 3,500 of these procedures. Dr Tassi is fully qualified neurosurgeon specialist with a full GMC licence (UK). Dr Tassi has more than 70 scientific publications and has participated in national and international conferences, some of which have been as an invited speaker about PLDD. Dr Tassi is an international recognised lecturer and trainer.
